Race: Turoan Human
Humans, while not the oldest race on Turoa, are the most populous and diverse. They occupy a wide range of areas and environments, from frigid tundra to tropical jungles and even deserts. Some live in large and populous cities, while others may live in small migratory bands. Humans in some areas tend to be tall and slender, and in others may be stout. The average appearance of humans varies a bit from community to community, but there is also a wide degree of variance even within concentrated populations. Skin tone ranges from very pale to very dark, and hair colors range from light golden to black, turning grey with age. Humans reach adulthood just shy of 20 years, and typically live less than a century.
Multitudes
Legends say that the first Humans were created by the twin gods Gluskap and Malsum. It is believed that having two creators who were so different themselves is what gave humans the broad spectrum of traits that have come to characterize them. Humans have been the most adaptable and ambitious of the races of Turoa - a likely explanation for their overwhelming population and dispersion throughout the world. There are widely varying tastes and customs in the areas they have settled, some tending to war and conquest, while others seek prosperity and growth. Even within a single individual, the attitudes and desires of humans can be, in the view of other races, shockingly quick to change. It is usually through contact with humans that members of other races seem to vary from their own historical cultures and tendencies, and it has been most often with humans that other races began to intermix.
Open Kingdoms
While all races of Turoa build settlements of varying sizes, most of the largest cities, and most nations, have been established and are predominantly governed by humans. Despite this fact, with few exceptions, most human kingdoms and cities are quite open to other races, even granting seats in ruling councils or advisories to represent their non-human populations. Comparatively few Humans would be found in a settlement of Lizardfolk or Centaur, and would scarcely be given influence within the group.
Human Names
Humans names vary as widely as their appearance. Throughout history, dispersion across the world of Turoa has led to the emergence of localized human languages. Most are still close enough to what is called the "Common tongue" that they can be understood, but small variances in language and culture account for varying conventions. These conventions and example names according to nation or area can be found in the setting description.
