### Abilities **Incorporeal Movement**. The swarm can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain and occupy the same square as their victim. ## **Sunlight Sensitivity**. While in sunlight, the swarm has disadvantage on attack & stealth rolls. ## **Latch onto Prey** The Vashta Nerada swarm shifts into the space of a target within 1 square and takes the form of the target's shadow (so that the target appears to have an extra shadow), becoming the same size as the target. Whenever the target moves or shifts, the swarm shifts with it, shifting into the square it moves to. \columnbreak
### Actions **Swarm Attack**. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 21 (4d8 + 3) necrotic damage. The target must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw or its hit point maximum is reduced by an amount equal to half the damage taken. This reduction lasts until the target finishes a long rest. The target dies if this effect reduces its hit point maximum to 0. ## **Shadow Form** The Vashta Nerada swarm appears to be an area of shadow, and gains total concealment when the entire swarm is in an area of dim light or darkness. In addition, a DC 17 perception check is required to notice that the Vashta Nerada swarm is not an ordinary shadow. If the swarm attacks, the creature it attacks can immediately notice that the swarm is not a shadow.
