After their existence was exposed and their dominion shattered on the continent of Drigin Crest, Father Vorath led his followers in a desperate exodus to the continent of Haven, seeking refuge and a new stronghold.

Purpose in the World: The Nightfall Society serves as a clandestine society of vampires, dampires (half-vampires), and their enslaved thralls. Their purpose is twofold: to ensure the survival and dominance of their kind and to spread their influence throughout Haven. They manipulate the shadows, pulling strings behind the scenes to control key power structures and feed on the unsuspecting.

Location: Continent of Haven: The Nightfall Society has established its new headquarters in the darkest corners of Haven. Their primary stronghold, known as the Veiled Sanctuary, lies hidden within a dense, enchanted forest shrouded in perpetual darkness. The forest acts as a natural barrier, concealing the society's activities and providing a refuge for their kind.

Kingdom Description: The Veiled Sanctuary is an opulent, Gothic city concealed within the depths of the enchanted forest. Tall, spired mansions adorned with blackened iron and stained glass windows dominate the landscape. The streets are lined with shadowy alleyways, where vampires and dampires gracefully stalk the night, while thralls go about their duties under their masters' watchful gaze.

Dark Magic: Members of the faction have the opportunity to learn and master dark and forbidden magics related to necromancy, blood manipulation, and shadow manipulation. These powers grant them access to devastating spells and rituals.

Immortality: Vampires and dampires enjoy extended lifespans and age at a significantly slower rate than normal mortals. They also have increased resistance to diseases and toxins.

Blood Oath: To prove loyalty, members of the Nightfall Society are required to undergo a blood oath, willingly offering their own blood as a symbol of their commitment. This act signifies their dedication to the cause and binds them to the hierarchy and laws of the faction.

Completion of Tasks: Loyalty can also be demonstrated through the successful completion of missions and tasks assigned by the faction leaders. These missions often involve espionage, assassination, or the acquisition of valuable artifacts or information.

Dampires: Half-vampires who possess a mix of vampire and mortal traits. They are valued for their versatility, as they can move among mortals more easily while still harnessing some vampiric powers.

Thralls: Enslaved individuals who serve the Nightfall Society, providing blood sustenance to the vampires and carrying out menial tasks. Thralls are typically under the control of higher-ranking vampires and dampires.
Faction benefits (Background replacer)
Rank 0: Initiate of Shadows
As a Rank 0 Initiate of Shadows within the Nightfall Society, you are a newly recruited member in the faction, undergoing training and proving your loyalty. At this level, you are granted certain abilities and benefits:

Darkvision: You gain the ability to see clearly in darkness, allowing you to navigate low-light environments and operate effectively during nighttime missions. You gain darkvision up to 60 feet.

Blood Initiation: You are taught the basics of blood manipulation, learning to control and shape your own blood. This ability grants you the potential to use blood as a weapon or a means of healing yourself or your companions.
- You can create a weapon of your choice by sacrificing 1d6 hit points from your own pool. The weapon takes on the original stats of the chosen weapon but acts as a +1 magic item and deals necrotic damage. This weapon lasts for 1 minute.
- You can siphon 1d6 + your Constitution modifier hit points from yourself to heal another player. This can also be used to siphon hit points from an unconscious target. The target has an opportunity to resist the effect by rolling a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, they take 2d10 necrotic damage, and you heal an amount equal to that value.
These two effects can be used a number of times equal to your proficiency modifier and are used as bonus actions.
- Faction Knowledge: You gain access to restricted information about the Nightfall Society, learning the history, traditions, and secrets of the faction. This knowledge helps you understand the society's inner workings and navigate its complex social structure.
- You gain advantage on Intelligence checks involving vampires and their history.
- Mortal Charms: You develop an enhanced charm and seduction ability, allowing you to captivate and manipulate weaker-willed individuals to a limited extent. You learn the charm person spell and may use a spell save DC of 10 + your proficiency modifier + your Charisma modifier if you lack a spell save DC.
Rank 1: Shadow Acolyte
Upon reaching Rank 1 as a Shadow Acolyte, you have proven your loyalty and dedication to the Nightfall Society. As a recognized member, you gain additional abilities and benefits:
- Vampiric Powers: You unlock the dormant vampiric powers within you, gaining heightened physical attributes, such as increased strength and speed.
- You gain a permanent +2 bonus to your Strength score and a +10 bonus to your movement speed.

Immortality: Your affiliation with the Nightfall Society bestows upon you the gift of immortality. You age at a significantly slower rate than mortals and gain resistance to diseases and poisons.

Faction Contacts: You gain access to a network of contacts within the Nightfall Society, granting you the ability to call upon fellow members for assistance or information. These connections provide valuable support and resources during missions or when navigating the faction's intricate web of influence.
