Paladin - Oath of the Dead
## Description ###
Paladins who assume this Oath bind themselves to the afterlife. Depending on the way they choose, even if their goal stays the same, the way to accomplish it can be entirely different.

### Choose the Path
When choosing this Oath at the 3rd level, you choose between the **Path of Brightness** and the **Path of Darkness** at each milestone of the subclass (respectively at 3rd, 7th and 15th level, starting with **Oath Spells**).
Once you make your choice, you cannot change it for the other option. **Incarnation of the Chosen Path** will depend on which path you choose the most during your leveling.
### Tenets of the Dead
A Paladin who assumes the Oath of the Dead swears protection to life and peace to the dead. However, the route taken to fulfill these are for the Paladin to choose.
* **The memories of the Dead.** Remember the life of the fallen, and commemorate their death. * **Protector of Life and Beyond.** Swear to protect life and avenge those whose lives were taken away. * **A Path in the Brightest Light.** Listen to your order’s words, and listen closely to the dead. You are prepared to send them back to the afterlife and fulfill their last wishes on your own. * **A Path in the Darkest Shadows.** Respond to the wrath of the dead. You are ready to bring the dead back onto this world to allow them an ending and help them stop their suffering and sorrow.

### Oath Spells
When taking this Oath at 3rd level, you must choose the route for your Oath spells. If one of the spell in the Oath Spell list isn't a Paladin spell, it is a Paladin spell for you. * The **Path of Brightness** allows more supportive and healing abilities to preserve live. At 10th level, you learn the **[Revivify](http://dnd5e.wikidot.com/spell:revivify)** spell. * The **Path of Darkness** allows a more aggressive style, and allows the dead to help you avenge them. At 10th level, you learn the **[Summon Undead](http://dnd5e.wikidot.com/spell:summon-undead)** spell.
### Channel Divinity
When you take this oath at the 3rd level, you gain the 2 following **Channel Divinity** options.
See the **Sacred Oath** class feature to see and learn how **Channel Divinity** works.
* **Marked by the Divine:** As a bonus action, you channel your divine’s force to divinely mark the target. An ally marked regains 1d6 (+ CHA modifier) hit points at the end of each of its turns, and becomes resistant to radiant & necrotic damage. If The target is an enemy, it must succeed on a Charisma saving throw against your Spell save DC or have its immunity or resistance to necrotic and radiant damage changed transformed into vulnerability to radiant & necrotic damage. The mark lasts10 minutes. * **Befriending the Dead:** As an action, you channel your beliefs and tenets against an Undead entity within 30ft of you. The target must succeed on a Charisma saving throw against your spell save DC or becomes lawful to you for the next 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, you and the undead have a contested Charisma roll. If you win, the undead moves on and leaves the mortal plane. If you lose, the undead breaks free from the ability and attacks you.

### Auras of Light and Shadows
Starting at the 7th level, while you are not incapacitated, you fill your nearby surrounding with an aura, which effect depends on the path you choose for it.
* **Path of Brightness.** When you and any creatures of your choice within 10ft of you deal radiant damage, every ally within your aura gains 1d6 temporary hit points. At the 11th level, this effect gives 1d8 temporary hit points instead. This effect triggers once per ally per turn. At the 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet. * **Path of Darkness.** When any creatures of your choice within 15ft of you leave the aura, they have to make a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC or take 1d6 necrotic damage. At the 11th level, this effect deals 2d6 necrotic damage instead. This effect triggers once per target per turn. At the 18th level, once per battle, when a target’s hit points hit 0 or below within the aura, they come back as a 3rd level **[Summon Undead](http://dnd5e.wikidot.com/spell:summon-undead)** of your Game Master’s choice.
### Warden
Starting at the 15th level, you can use up to two times per long rest the following ability. its effect depends on the patch you choose for it. - **Path of Brightness.** When an ally falls unconscious within 30ft of you, you can spend your reaction to cast Spare the Dying on them remotely. You gain the Spare the Dying cantrip. It counts as a paladin spell for you. When an ally falls unconscious within 15ft of you, you can instead spend your reaction to cast your Lay on Hands on them remotely. When using the latter effect, your Aura deactivates for the next 1d4 rounds. * **Path of Darkness** When you or an ally within 30ft of you, or one of your summoned undead, is hit by an attack, you can spend your reaction to cast Toll the Dead on the attacker. You gain the Toll the Dead cantrip. It counts as a paladin spell for you. When an ally hit points hit 0 or below within 15ft of one of your invoked undead, as a reaction, you can sacrifice your undead to bring them back to 1 hit point. \columnbreak ### Incarnation of the Chosen Path

- **Second Life.** You can freely cast the True Resurrection spell on any target of your choosing without requiring any components. For the following 1d12 days, you do not receive your Incarnation bonus, though.

To take this path, you choose at least 2 times a **Path of Brightness** feature option. - **Holy Cure.** While in dim light or bright light, when you are hit by radiant damage, instead of taking damage, you heal yourself half of the damage amount you were supposed to take, rounded down. - **Nourished by the Light.** When you are in daylight, you do not require to eat nor drink. - **Rest of the Hero.** When you do a short rest, you can restore a total number of Lay on Hands equal to your paladin level x half of your proficiency modifier.
#### Incarnation of Darkness:
To take this path, you choose at least 2 times a **Path of Darkness** feature option. - **Unholy Cure.** While in dim light or in the darkness, when you are hit by necrotic damage, instead of taking damage, you heal yourself half of the damage amount you were supposed to take, rounded down. - **Nourished by the Night.** When you are in the darkness, you do not require to eat nor drink. - **Talk to the Dead.** You can cast, as an action, the Speak with Dead spell without the need to provide any component.
