Undead Ancestry

Somewhere in your ancestry, undeath crept in. Whether the progeny of a lich, a parent who was revivified, or a mother who died moments before birth, one of your ancestors grasped necromantic energies and drew them in so that they might later come to fruition within you.

Blessed--or cursed--with the necromantic energies, your body is forever changed. You might possess translucent or sagging skin, tendrils of trailing etherea, or even permanently dislocated joints. Regardless of these physical qualities, your soul reads as unliving, granting you access to powers beyond the realms of death.

Domain Spells

1st-level Undead Ancestry feature

You learn additional spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown in the Undead Spells table. These spells count as sorcerer spells for you, but they don't count against the number of sorcerer spells you know.

Whenever you gain a sorcerer level, you can replace one spell you gained from this feature with another spell of the same level. The new spell must be from the Schools of Necromancy or Transmutation.

9th antilife shell, negative energy floodXGE

Body of Haunts

1st-level Undead Ancestry feature

You gain the Undead creature type in addition to any you possess from your race, and Undead don't become immediately hostile to you without reason.

Additionally, you learn the thaumaturgy spell, which doesn't count against your number of cantrips known. When you cast the spell, you can choose a creature you can see that can see, hear, or feel the effect you create and force it to make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failure, the target becomes frightened of the effect or you (your choice) for the spell's duration. The creature can repeat its save at the start of each of its turns while it can sense the effect, ending the condition on a success.

Immaterial Defense

6th-level Undead Ancestry feature

You learn to momentarily shift your soul between planes. When you are targeted by attack you can see, you can use your reaction to expend 1 sorcery point to impose disadvantage on the attack roll and to gain resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from nonmagical attacks until the end of the current turn.

Ghastly Evasion

14th-level Undead Ancestry feature

You gain the ability to convert your soul into ethereal ectoplasm. As a bonus action, you can gain the benefits of the gaseous form spell until the end of your turn or until you end the benefit early (no action required).

Rise, and Rise Again

18th-level Undead Ancestry feature

Your font of undeath within you allows unparalleled control over death. While you have at least 3 sorcery points, having 0 hit points doesn’t knock you unconscious. You still must make death saving throws, and you suffer the normal effects of taking damage while at 0 hit points. However, if you would die due to failing death saving throws, you don’t die until you end your turn with fewer than 3 sorcery points, and you die then only if you still have 0 hit points.

Additionally, when a Humanoid that is frightened of you is reduced to 0 hit points and it is within 60 feet of you, you can immediately spend 4 sorcery points (no action require) to raise it as a specter under your control, as if by the animate dead spell, for 24 hours or until it is reduced to 0 hit points.
