Legendary Resistance (4/Day). If Dregoth fails a saving throw, he can choose to succeed instead.

Magic Resistance. Dregoth has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Turn Immunity: Dregoth is immune to effects that turn undead.

Regeneration. Dregoth regains 20 hit points at the start of his turn. If he takes radiant damage, this trait doesn't function at the start of his next turn.

Dragon Magic. Dregoth can choose to power his spells with energy from living creatures. Living creatures caught in the defiling radius of Dregoth, when using Dragon Magic, take 2 points of damage per level of the spell being cast.

Shift Forms. Dregoth most of his abilities in his regal dray guise. However, he can choose to attain his other form as a free action at the start of his turn. His size increases to Gargantuan and he gains the ability to use his Defiling Breath, but his other statistics remain unchanged. Another use of this ability reverses the change.

Vengeful Wrath (Recharges after a Short or Long Rest). If Dregoth would be reduced to 0 hit points, his current hit point total instead resets to 500 hit points, he recharges Draconic Onslaught and Defiling Breath, and he regains any expended uses of Legendary Resistance. His form changes to draconic and he cannot attain the dray form for an hour. Additionally, he now use the options in the "Mythic Actions" section for 1 hour. Award a party an additional 135,000 XP (270,000 XP total) for defeating Dregoth, the Dread King after his Vengeful Wrath activates.

Supreme Psion. Dregoth can maintain focus on two psionic talents at a time.

Spellcasting. Dregoth is a 20th-level spellcaster. His spellcasting ability is Intelligence (spell save DC 27, +19 to hit with spell attacks). Dregoth has the following wizard spells prepared:

  • Cantrips (at will): Mage Hand, Prestidigitation, Toll the Dead, Chill Touch
  • 1st level (at will): Shield, False Life, Magic Missile, Detect Magic
  • 2nd level (at will): Mirror Image, Misty Step, Blindness/Deafness
  • 3rd level (3 slots): Fireball, Summon Undead, Lightning Bolt
  • 4th level (3 slots): Dimension Door, Ice Storm, Summon Greater Demon
  • 5th level (3 slots): Infernal Calling, Summon Draconic Spirit
  • 6th level (3 slots): Eyebite, Globe of Invulnerability
  • 7th level (3 slots): Finger of Death, Teleport
  • 8th level (2 slots): Mind Blank, Abi-Dalzim's Horrid Wilting

Psionics. Dregoth is a 20th-level psionic character. His psionic ability is Intelligence (power save DC 27, +19 to hit with power attacks). He has a psi point maximum of 192 and a psi limit of 10. Dregoth knows the following psion talents and powers that augment them:

  • Aura Beacon: Aura Beam (5+), Aura of Awe (9)
  • Battle Trance: Brute Strike (1+), Launching Strike (1+), Melee Combat Prescience (5)

Actions

Draconic Onslaught (Recharge 5–6). Dregoth makes a melee attack, casts a spell and manifests an augment on a psionic talent. Effects are resolved separately in an order chosen by Dregoth. Spell must be of 4rd level or lower, augment must cost no more than 7 Psi Points to manifest.

Defiling Breath (Recharge 5–6) (Dragon Form Only). Dregoth exhales destructive energy in a 150-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 26 Dexterity saving throw, taking 78 (12d12) necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. If it kills an enemy of CR 10 or higher, Dregoth can cast a spell of up to 5th level with a normal casting of an action as a bonus action until the end of his next turn.

Twin Mastery. Dregoth casts a spell and manifests an augment on a psionic talent. Two effects are resolved separately. Spell must be of 3rd level or lower, augment must cost no more than 5 Psi Points to manifest.

Multiattack. Dregoth can use his Frightful Presence. He then makes three attacks: two with his claws and one with his bite.

Dreadful Presence. Each creature of Dregoth's choice within 120 feet of him and aware of him must succeed on a DC 23 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature's saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to Dregoth's Dreadful Presence for the next 24 hours.

  • Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +18 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 20 (2d10 + 9) piercing damage plus 17 (5d6) necrotic damage.
  • Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +18 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 16 (2d6 + 9) slashing damage plus 17 (5d6) necrotic damage.
  • Tail. Melee Weapon Attack: +18 to hit, reach 20 ft., one target. Hit: 17 (2d8 + 8) bludgeoning damage plus 17 (5d6) necrotic damage..

Bonus Actions

Sublime Power (Recharge 6). Dregoth increases his psi limit by 8 for the next power he manifests before the end of his next turn and becomes immune to psychic damage until his next turn.

Legendary Actions

Dregoth can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. Dregoth regains spent legendary actions at the start of his turn.

  • Spell. Dregoth casts a spell of up to 4th level.
  • Power. Dregoth manifests an augment that costs up to 7 psi points.
  • Tail Attack. Dregoth makes one Tail attack.

Mythic Actions

If Dregoth's Vengeful Wrath trait has activated in the last hour, it can use the options below as legendary actions.

  • Bite. Dregoth makes one Bite attack.
  • Nightmare Travel (Costs 2 Actions). Dregoth becomes insubstantial and is phasing. He shifts 60 feet and can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. Dregoth chooses one creature that he passes through during this movement, the creature must succeed on a DC 24 Charisma saving throw or be knocked prone, taking 55 (10d10) psychic damage.
