Amidst the chaos of conflict, the clamor of battle cries, and the clash of steel, there exists a mythical figure: the Warhawk, a “forever soldier” bound by oath to safeguard their homeland at all costs. These warriors are the embodiment of unwavering loyalty, their souls intertwined with the very soil they defend. They stand as eternal guardians, forged in the crucible of adversity, ready to sacrifice everything to protect their beloved land.

Truly embodying their title, Warhawks are always prepared to answer the call to arms and typically advocate for war as a solution to political strife. Their resolve to defend their motherland knows no bounds; They stand ever-vigilant, ready to confront any man, group, or country that dares threaten their country. With blades of cold steel and hearts of warm gold, Warhawks march boldly into the fray, determined to create a better tomorrow for their fellow countrymen.

Tenets of the Warhawks

Speed

Problems should be addressed with haste, and battles should be ended quickly. One must take the initiative to protect their countryside.

Vigor

One must always give their all -- the lives of civilians rest upon your back.

Bravery

Strive to be a beacon of hope for all around you. You must be willing to do whatever your people call upon you for.

Loyalty

Your home has birthed you and raised you; you must seek to return the favor at every chance you can get.

Oath Spells

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed.

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Vanguard’s Weapon

You can use your Channel Divinity to empower a melee weapon without the two-handed property, enhancing its offensive capabilities. As an action, the chosen weapon becomes magical if it isn't already, allowing it to overcome resistances, and it gains the reach property if it doesn’t already have it. When you miss an attack against a creature with this weapon, you can expend one spell slot to reroll the attack. If the attack hits after the reroll, you can activate Divine Smite using the same spell slot used to activate this effect. This empowerment lasts until you finish a short or long rest.

Sentinel’s Shield

You can use your Channel Divinity to empower a shield, enhancing its defensive capabilities. As an action, the chosen shield gains two additional properties: While you are wielding this shield, you have advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects, and when a friendly creature within 10 feet of you is hit by an attack, you can use your reaction to add your shield's AC bonus to their AC or saving throw, potentially altering the outcome.

Aura of the Warhawk

Starting at 7th level, you have learned to share your offensive or defensive capabilities. You gain one of two features, depending on whether you have enhanced your weapon or shield using your Channel Divinity:

Aura of the Vanguard

While you wield a weapon empowered by Vanguard’s Weapon, you emanate an aura that fills you and your companions with the strength of the Vanguard. When you or a creature within 10 feet of you makes an attack roll, they add a d4 to the result. At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.

Aura of the Sentinel

While you wield a shield empowered by Sentinel’s Shield, you emanate an aura that fills you and your companions with the protection of the Sentinel. When you or a creature within 10 feet of you makes a saving throw, they can add a d4 to the result. At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.

Veteran’s Aptitude

Starting at 15th level, you gain one of two features, depending on whether you have enhanced your weapon or shield using your Channel Divinity:

Vanguard’s Technique

While you wield a weapon empowered by Vanguard’s Weapon, you draw upon your experience to empower yourself. Whenever you damage a creature with an attack, you deal additional damage equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1).

Sentinel’s Skill

While you wield a shield empowered by Sentinel’s Shield, you draw upon your experience to empower yourself. Whenever you take damage, you reduce the damage taken by an amount equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1).

Grandmaster’s Authority

Starting at 20th level, your unrivaled knowledge of warfare grants you the following effects:

  • When you use your Channel Divinity to cast Vanguard’s Weapon or Sentinel’s Shield, you gain the benefits of both options.
  • You gain both features of Aura of the Warhawk and Veteran’s Aptitude while you wield both a weapon empowered by Vanguard’s Weapon and a shield empowered by Sentinel’s Shield.
  • Additionally, the range of all "Aura" features you benefit from increases from 30 feet to 180 feet.
