What that means is you'll start the game, however long we've been going, at the current Party Level so you can catch up. You'll also be gifted a golden handshake as party of your employment package in the companies own currency; **Lotus Coins**. Next up is that we are using the **Standard Array** for stats and you're allowed to use any class and race from any of the official sourcebooks avalible to you. Whats different is how we're handling **Backgrounds** and **Starting Equipment**. Your **Background** is what you'll have been employed by Equinox for (along with being the adventurous type). It doesn't have to be true, perhaps you've managed to lie your way through the interview process and get taken on as a Celestial Zoologist but don't have the slightest clue on what a horse even looks like, never mind a space horse. These will have some in game use with each background granting you 2 skills, a tool proficiency and knowledge of an additional language. If none of these fit, or you fancy something different then you can pick and 2 skills along with your choice of Toolkit Proficiency and Language. Just make sure it's themed proper! As for **Starting Equipment**, well, you don't have any. Gold isn't much use out here and most of what you'll need can be had on loan from Equinox as part of the Expedition Fleet's own stock of supplies and equipment. Once you pay a visit to **Fentaman's General Store** you'll be able to get the best Equinox has on offer. As long as its within your pay grade that is. #### Current Party Level - 5 #### Current Bonus - 10 Lotus Coin *(you'll see where to spend these later!)*

\pagebreak ## Additional Game Rules We've opted to add a few extra rules into the game to help add to the adventure aspect of things as well as smooth out a few issues that public adventure league style games can bring. This is a live list, so expect it to change occasionally as we progress. ### Spell Scrolls for Dummies Thanks to a patented **Equinox** design philosophy of "just work harder", any and all scrolls can be used by anyone that's able to at least read. If the spell isn't on your own spell list (i.e. a Cleric trying to cast a spell that's on the Bard spell list) then you need to pass a roll, failing to pass the check results in either a roll on a wild magic table or something of the DMs own design. But I'm a Fighter, I don't have a spell list. Well, I guess you will be rolling every time then! | Spell List | Skill Check | |:---:|:-----------:| | Bard | Performance, DC 13 + Spell Level | | Cleric | Religion, DC 13 + Spell Level | | Druid | Nature, DC 13 + Spell Level | | Paladin | Religion, DC 13 + Spell Level | | Ranger | Nature, DC 13 + Spell Level | | Sorcerer | Arcana, DC 13 + Spell Level | | Warlock | Arcana, DC 13 + Spell Level | | Wizard | Arcana, DC 13 + Spell Level | ### Active Inventory by Giffy Glyph Whilst we don't want to get bogged down in item weights we do want the decision on what you bring to your adventure one that has somethining behind it, so we'll be using a modified version of Giffy Glyphs "Active Inventory" system in their Darker Dungeons 5e supplement. Everything has been broken down and given a **Bulk** rating, which is a combination of its size and weight. Your character can only carry so much stuff with them which is based off their size and strength. Think of it a little bit like how a game like Diablo manages things, you've only got so much inventory space so trying to lug back home a treasure chest full of goodies whilst also donning your heavy plate mail, 4 weapons, crossbow and the party gnome on your shoulders isn't going to be possible. Up to 70 lbs. About half as heavy as an average person. The number of slots you have to carry things is decided by your size along with your strength score. Each size also takes up a specific number of slots if a body needs to be carried somewhere (or brought home!). | Character Size | Inventory Slots | Takes Up Space | |:---:|:------:|:---:| | Small | 6 + STR Score | 12 | | Medium | 10 + STR Score| 18 | | Large | 14 + STR Score| 24 | These inventory slots are supposed to represent the various satchels, bags, sheaths, belts and pockets you have. Alongside these you also have 3 slots for quick item use, these are items you place in very easy to reach spots so you use a free action to get hold of it (still needs an action or bonus action to use, however). This could be an extra dagger, a health potion or an emergency fireball scroll. Everything else is tucked away and will take an entire action to access. | Bulk | Slots | Weight | Size | |:---:|:-:|:---:|:---:| | Tiny (T) | 0.2 | A negligible or trivial weight. | Smaller than the palm of your hand.| | Small (S) | 1 | The weight of a loaf of bread or a bag of sugar. | Up to a handspan. Can be held comfortably with one hand. | | Medium (M) | 2 | About as heavy as a few big bags of sugar. | Up to an arms-length. Can be held in one hand. | | Large (L) | 3 | About as heavy as a cat or a sack of potatoes. | Longer than an arm. Can be held with one hand, but us most comfortable with two. | | X Large (XL) | 6 | About a 1/4 of the weight of an average person. | Longer than the height of an average person. Two hands to hold. | | XX Large (XXL) | 9 | About 1/2 as heavy as an average person. | Longer than the height of two people. Two hands to hold. | ### Actual Darkness It can get really dark in space, oddly enough. For us it means we're going to alter the Dark Vision rules for characters and you'll need to activly think about how you are lighting up the places you are adventuring if you want to be able to see correctly. This is mainly to tone down the proliferation of Dark Vision in later races in 5e but to also give DMs a chance to use it to their advantage. **Low-Light Vison**, if you have the Darkvision racial trait, replace it with Low-light Vision. **Dark Vision**, if you have the Superior Darkvision racial trait, replace it with Darkvision. **Brightvision**, If you have neither low-light vision nor darkvision, you are assumed to have Brightvision. Darkvision gained from other sources—such as items, spells, effects, etc—remains unchanged. To go with this, there are 5 levels of darkness on which you can be affected with either Blindness or Partial Blindness. | Darkness Level | Dark Vision | Low Light Vision | Bright Vision | |:---:|:-:|:---:|:---:| | Total Darkness | Blinded | Blinded | Blinded | | Dark Light | Partially Blinded | Blinded | Blinded | | Dim Light | Standard | Standard | Partially Blinded | | Bright Light | Standard | Standard | Standard | | Brightest Light | Partially Blinded | Standard | Standard | \pagebreak
