# Roguish Archetype: Knight-Errant This archetype transforms the Rogue into an armoured juggernaut, adept at translating forward momentum into a single devastating strike with a lance or heavy weapon. As depicted in Arthurian legend, Knights-Errant are wandering heroes, devoted to helping the common people, or to a grand quest. Nobles, soldiers, squires, and commoners can all aspire to this romantic calling, seeking to prove themselves through acts of chivalry and daring. To support this archetype, you may wish to re-flavour the features of the base Rogue class: - Sneak Attack as Martial Advantage - Thieves Cant as Courtly Etiquette - Uncanny Dodge as Duellist’s Parry - Slippery Mind as Gallant - Elusive as Vigilant - Stroke of Luck as Chosen by Destiny You may also wish to swap out Thieves’ Tools proficiency for a tool, gaming set, instrument, or language proficiency of your choice. \columnbreak ### Man-At-Arms When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with greataxes, greatswords, lances, mauls, shields, and medium and heavy armour. When you use one of these weapons your Sneak Attack feature does not require the Finesse property. Furthermore, when you move 20 feet or more in a straight line before making a melee attack with one of these weapons, and don’t have disadvantage on the attack roll, you can apply your Sneak Attack on a hit. All the other rules for Sneak Attack still apply to you. Finally, for every 10 feet you move in a straight line immediately before using one of these weapons to make a Sneak Attack, you deal 1 additional point of weapon damage on a hit (up to a maximum equal to your proficiency bonus).
### Shock Cavalry Also from 3rd level, while mounted you can wield a greataxe, greatsword, or maul in one hand, and a shield in the other. In addition, when you use your Cunning Action to Dash or Disengage, you can have your controlled mount benefit from this action instead of you. \pagebreak ### Heroic Defence From 9th level, your Uncanny Dodge improves. When you or a creature within 5 feet of you are hit by an attack, you can use your reaction to block it, and cause it to miss. In addition, whenever you use your Evasion feature, you can also apply its benefits to another creature within 5 feet of you, and they can choose to replace their saving throw result with yours. ### Roving Knight Also from 9th level, you can travel for twice as long before beginning a Forced March. While you are mounted, your mount also benefits from this feature. ## Credits Images, in order of appearance: - [Raymond Minnaar](https://www.artstation.com/raymondminnaar "Raymond Minnaar") - [Dominik Mayer](https://www.artstation.com/dominikmayerart "Dominik Mayer") ## Other Work - [Tome of Battle II](https://www.reddit.com/r/UnearthedArcana/comments/14cxv7w/tome_of_battle_ii_v3/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button "Tome of Battle II") - [Mesoamerican Magic Items](https://www.reddit.com/r/UnearthedArcana/comments/1ch0abw/mesoamerican_magic_items_v2/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button "Mesoamerican Magic Items") - [Roguish Archetype: The Ronin](https://www.reddit.com/r/UnearthedArcana/comments/u8zlre/roguish_archetype_ronin_v4/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button "The Ronin") - [Primal Path: Beast Rider](https://www.reddit.com/r/UnearthedArcana/comments/v6ad5t/primal_path_beast_rider/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button "Primal Path: Beast Rider") - [Homebrew](https://docs.google.com/document/d/18g0Gjp3PUXFtyKTQmNR79G26OiAWY1RlN3K7qUkFqWs/edit?usp=sharing "Homebrew") - [Spells](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1M4r9fymI3d5gKxiE3DrL0W75Bi9Cgl3_ui0tBkDO274/edit?usp=sharing "Spells") \columnbreak ### Thundering Charge Starting at 13th level, you become an unstoppable juggernaut. As a bonus action you can expend up to your speed, and move that distance in a straight line. You can also direct your mount to use its movement. This movement does not provoke Opportunity Attacks, and can be made through the spaces of creatures that are your size or smaller. Creatures that come within 5 feet of you (or your mount) during this movement must make a Strength saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier) or be knocked prone and take bludgeoning damage equal to 4d6 + your Rogue level. On a success, a creature takes half this damage and is not knocked prone. You can use this ability a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and regain all uses when you complete a long rest. ### Swathe of Glory Starting at 17th level, when you take the Attack action and make an attack with a melee weapon, you can have the attack target a second creature within your reach, using the same attack roll. If you hit the second creature, you can apply your Sneak Attack feature, even if you have already used it this turn.
