Voidborn Staff

Staff, weapon, legendary (requires attunement by a warlock)

This staff can be wielded as a magic quarterstaff that grants a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it. While holding it, you gain a +2 bonus to Armor Class, saving throws, and spell attack rolls.

Invoker. while attuned to this staff you gain 2 additional warlock invocations. Additionally, when you take a long rest, you can choose one of the invocations gained from this staff and replace it with another invocation.

The staff has 20 charges for the following properties. The staff regains 1d8 + 5 expended charges daily at dawn. If you expend the last charge, roll a d20. On a 1, the staff retains its +2 bonus to attack and damage roll but loses all other properties.

Void Empowerment. When you hit with a melee attack or with a warlock cantrip you can expend 1 charge to deal an extra 1d6 psychic damage to the target.

Spells

While holding this staff, you can use an action to expend 1 or more of its charges to cast one of the following spells from it, using your spell save DC and spell attack bonus:

• Arms of Hadar (1 charge)
• Dissonant Whispers (1 charge)
• Borrowed Knowledge^SCC (2 charges)
• Detect Thoughts (2 charges)
• Pulse Wave^EGW (3 charges)
• Banishment at 5th level (5 charges)
• Summon Aberration^TCE at 5th level (5 charges)
• Gravity Fissure^EGW (6 charges)
• Cursed Offering^ACS (7 charges)

Whispers of Madness. (5 charges) You can use an action to slam the staff against the ground causing a cacophony of whispers to invade the minds of creatures near you. Each creature of your choice within 30 feet of you must make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC or suffer one short term madness for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. A creature that succeeds on the saving throw is immune to this effect from the staff for the next 24 hours.
