Minor Creature Sense. The Oculari is aware of the presence of creatures within 300 feet of it that have an Intelligence score of 4 or higher. It knows the distance and direction to each creature, as well as each one's intelligence score, but can't sense anything else about it. A creature protected by a mind blank spell, a nondetection spell, or similar magic can't be perceived in this manner.
Death Throes. When the Oculari dies it explodes, and each creature within 15 feet of it must make a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw, taking 28 (8d6) acid damage on a failed save. or half as much on a successful one.
Actions
Multiattack. The Oculari makes two mandible attacks
Mandible Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d6 + 3) slashing damage plus 3 (1d4) acid damage
Reaction
Consume Arcana. The Oculari consumes a fragment of the essence inside the casting of a spell from a creature within 60 feet of it. If a creature is casting a spell of 1st level or higher the Oculari gains a number of temporary hit points equal to twice the spells level. Additionally, the Oculari gains a bonus to its next attack roll equal to the spells level.
Failed Incubations
Spawns are born from the failed attempt to create a new Oculari from the corpse of a spellcaster. Their bodies become mindless hounds for the Oculari within their colonies when transforming them fails.
