Monk Subclass - D&D 5e 2024
Inner conflict, passion, boldness, and guilt are of the many emotions a monk must endure when they become a Warrior of the Scarlet Soul. These monks resonate with the blood of their own sins and the wrath of fiery stars that hang above their monasteries, manifesting these emotions into colorful wings that hang on their backs. The wings serve as a constant reminder to a Warrior of the Scarlet Soul's dark past and hopeful future; freedom to be remorseful.
Scarlet Form
3rd-level Warrior of the Scarlet Soul feature
As a Bonus Action, you can spend 2 Focus Points to assume a Scarlet Form, wreathing your body in scarlet flames and sprouting colorful wings. The form lasts for 1 minute, until you dismiss it (no action required), gain the Incapacitated condition, or use this feature again.
Whenever you assume your Scarlet Form, you gain a Fly Speed equal to your Speed, and you gain Temporary Hit Points equal to a roll of your Martial Arts die. Choose which of the following wings erupt from your back; your choice gives you certain benefits while in the form.
Brown Wings. When you use your Deflect Attacks feature, creatures of your choice within 10 feet of you must make a Constitution saving throw or take Thunder damage equal to the amount of damage you deflected.
Red Wings. When a Hostile creature that you can see within 120 feet damages you, you can use your Reaction to teleport to an unoccupied space you can see within 5 feet of the creature. Creatures of your choice within 5 feet of you when you appear take Fire damage equal to a roll of your Martial Arts die + your Wisdom modifier upon a failed Dexterity saving throw, or half as much on a successful save. You return to your original space or the nearest unoccupied space at the end of your next turn.
White Wings. When you fail a D20 Test that uses Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma, you can use your Reaction to roll a Martial Arts die and add the result to the test, potentially turning failure into success.
Yellow Wings. When you hit a creature with an Unarmed Strike, you can deal Radiant damage rather than Bludgeoning. Once per turn, when you hit a creature with an Unarmed Strike, you can deal an extra 1d6 Radiant damage.
You can assume your Scarlet Form a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus, regaining all expended uses of this feature when you complete a Long Rest.
Inner Conflict
6th-level Warrior of the Scarlet Soul feature
As you continue on your journey, you've learned how to be more helpful to others. You can take the Help action as a Bonus Action on your turn. You can spend 1 or more Focus Points to enhance your Help action, giving the creature you help Heroic Inspiration, which lasts for a number of minutes equal to the amount of Focus Points you spent.
Brilliant Resilience
11th-level Warrior of the Scarlet Soul feature
When you assume your Scarlet Form, your wings grow, shrouding your body in protective light. You gain Resistance to certain damage types depending on which Scarlet Form you are in for the duration.
Brown Wings. Force and Thunder damage.
Red Wings. Cold and Fire damage.
White Wings. Lightning and Necrotic damage
Yellow Wings. Acid and Radiant damage.
Form of the Agelaius
17th-level Warrior of the Scarlet Soul feature
As an Action, you can spend 5 Focus Points and 3 uses of your Scarlet Form feature to assume the Form of the Agelaius, wreathing your body in the form of a blackbird, with your wings becoming the colors of every Scarlet Form. The form lasts for 1 minute, until you dismiss it (no action required), gain the Incapacitated condition, or assume another Scarlet Form. When you assume the Form of the Agelaius, you gain the following benefits for the duration:
- You gain Immunity to Fire and Radiant damage.
- You gain a Fly Speed equal to double your Speed.
- You gain the benefits of every Scarlet Form other than the damage Resistance.
- You gain Temporary Hit Points equal to a roll of your Martial Arts die at the start of each of your turns.
If you die while in the Form of the Agelaius, you can choose to detonate yourself in radiant flames, forcing creatures of your choice in a 30-foot radius Sphere around your body to make a Dexterity saving throw, taking 2d12 Fire damage plus 2d12 Radiant damage upon failure, or take half as much damage on a successful save.
