Belfast's legendary singer-songwriter Van Morrison is set to release his 47th studio album, "Remembering Now," on June 13, 2025, via Exile Productions and Virgin Records. This highly anticipated record marks a significant return to original songwriting for Morrison, following a period that saw him release cover albums and reworkings of his classic material.

"Remembering Now" features 14 new tracks, showcasing Morrison's enduring lyrical depth and genre-bending musicality. Fans can expect a rich blend of the blues, jazz, rhythm and blues, folk, and soul influences that have defined his six-decade-long career. Early descriptions suggest the album will resonate with hallmarks of classic Van Morrison, with dominant themes of love and evocative references to locations from his youth.
The album's lead single, "Down to Joy," was released on February 27, 2025. This gospel/R&B-flavored tune gained early recognition after being featured in Kenneth Branagh's acclaimed 2021 film Belfast and subsequently earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song. Its official release as a single has been eagerly awaited. A second single, "Cutting Corners," followed on May 1, 2025, further building anticipation for the full album.
Beyond Morrison's signature vocals, guitar, and saxophone, "Remembering Now" features his long-standing band members, including Richard Dunn (Hammond organ), Stuart McIlroy (piano), Pete Hurley (bass), and Colin Griffin (drums). The album also boasts an array of accomplished collaborators. The lush string arrangements were handled by Fiachra Trench, whose association with Morrison dates back to 1989's "Avalon Sunset." These strings were performed by the Fews Ensemble, led by Joanne Quigley. Other notable contributions come from Michael Beckwith, founder of the Agape International Spiritual Center, renowned lyricist Don Black, and acclaimed folk artist Seth Lakeman.
