Festivites
\pagebreak ## Festivite _“I had been called out to apprehend a vandal. ‘Folk were randomly being woken up in the middle of the night to the sound of footsteps and snively laughter. Nobody could find the source, with the only evidence left in the day being random splatters of colored paint covering the walls. A case both so cryptic and yet low-stakes was beneath most superiors, so I was left to be the one on the lookout. For the most part, this consisted of standing around at night and trying to chase down any sound that was unusual._ _“Fortunately., it didn’t take long in the shift to find myself chasing a figure in paint-splattered robes through the alleys. Finally, I managed to corner the man… but where a human face should have been, was a slate of wood, with a wide grin painted on in white. I wasn’t used to the strange folks at this time, so in my shock I let go, and it scampered away to partake in more mischief._ _Ultimately, we never found the thing. It seemed like it just came to torment us for a few weeks, before leaving to parts unknown.”_
_-Chapter II of “Memoirs of an Avalite Guardsman”_ ### Outfits Given Form Almost every society has a form of celebration in which the wearing of costumes is encouraged. As the years go by, the costumes go from being simple outfits to representing some greater being, their mythology giving the costume a consistent face and name. These forms can vary widely, ranging from friendly harvest spirits to dark beings that stalk from door to door. When a costume is seen as its own entity, it becomes easy for magic to become infused within. Festivites are a category of magical humanoids that are formed from the results of animating magic reacting with a ritual costume and its associated traditions. This causes the inanimate features of the costume to turn into a flesh and blood creature of a similar appearance. As the nature of ritual outfits can vary widely, each Festivite has an appearance onto its own. Some are near-shapeless creatures covered in thick fur, while others have bony skulls that could get them mistaken for undead by the undiscerning. ___ ### Life From The Party While their nature may vary greatly as individuals, there are some common traits within the lineage. The themes of the occasion that they were originally made for often leaks into a Festivite’s personality. For example, costumes made to represent harvest spirits often end up as Druid-like defenders of nature, while dark bogeys may gain a delight for scaring anyone they deem wicked. Regardless of their original purpose, almost all Festivites have a love for celebration and revelry. The obviousness of this trait can vary depending on the nature of the original outfit, but few Festivites will refuse an offer to entertain in ways that relate to their original purpose. While most are often content to stay in their original regions, some enter the adventuring lifestyle to further spread their type of whimsy. Other, unlucky ones may be left astray due to the fading or destruction of their old ways, leaving them wandering to find a new place for themselves. ___ ### Festivite Names Festivites often have names relating to esoteric words in their home culture, as the result of being made from ancient traditions. These can vary from dramatic to whimsical in nature, and some Festivites may adopt more mundane names for ease of pronunciation with other peoples. ___ ___Festivite Names:___ Akebo, Asirath, Bolitol, Click-Clack, Eli’dil, Gristl’en, Ithciqui, Jack, Kirriaks, Kramp, Longlegs, Merry, Mum, Pell, Qui-tep, Revelri, Sylvi, Taqui, Whistl, Zaster ___ ### Festivite Traits ___ Your Festivite character has the following racial traits. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Wisdom score increases by 2, and your Constitution score increases by 1. **Age.** The lifespan of a Festivite can vary widely.
