### Escalating Normally, a being afflicted by a [bleed](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/conditions/#TOC-Bleed) effect takes a consistent amount of damage each round (e.g. the amount of [bleed](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/conditions/#TOC-Bleed) damage that they take on the second round will be the same as the amount of [bleed](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/conditions/#TOC-Bleed) damage that they take on the fifth round). However, if a being is afflicted by a [bleed](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/conditions/#TOC-Bleed) effect that deals escalating damage, the amount of damage that they take will increase over time. For example, if Morgiana the [sanguine sorcerer](https://www.gmbinder.com/share/-LWMZYORqW01dZkNhvm7) causes Zepenon the [rogue](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/rogue/) to begin to [bleed](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/conditions/#TOC-Bleed) for 2 points of escalating damage each round, Zepenon will take 2 points of [bleed](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/conditions/#TOC-Bleed) damage on the first round, 4 points of [bleed](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/conditions/#TOC-Bleed) damage on the second round, 6 points of [bleed](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/conditions/#TOC-Bleed) damage on the third round, etc.
