To most, this tome appears as a spellbook belonging to a middling abjurer or diviner, but what else would one expect from a manual on how to become a master mage-thief? It's had many names: the Libra Filchen, Encantotum Filchius, The Filchomancer's Bible, but most know it as the Filchonomicon. This remarkable book allows the right wizard to gain the skills to pull off any heist! Whether you came upon this book by accident, a gift from a shady benefactor, or you stole it yourself, this grimoire will change your life and turn you into a Filchomancer!
Mage-thief's Gift
Through an arcanopilferative ritual, you become the master of the Filchonomicon! At 2nd level, you replace your spellbook with the Filchonomicon. While holding your Filchonomicon, a number of times per rest equal to your Intelligence modifier, you may add a bonus to any Dexterity or Charisma (Deception) check or Dexterity saving throw. You may add this bonus only before the DM reveals the outcome of your roll. The bonus is equal to a d6 and increases to a d8 at level 9 and d10 at level 15.
Filchomancer's Talent
Your new book bestows physical gifts that other wizards could never know. Also at 2nd level, As a bonus action, take or plant an item on a humanoid or perform the Disengage, Hide, or Search action.
Shaded Casting
The magics flowing through your book are subtle, your mark won't suspect a thing. At 6th level, twice per rest, when you cast a spell, you may forgo somatic and verbal components for that spell.
You and Your Filchonomicon
This mildly sentient tome contains hidden bits of knowledge about pilfering, con artistry, and general skullduggery, replaces your spellbook following all the same rules as a spellbook, and acts as a set of thieves' tools that you are proficient with. As part of the process of bonding to a new master, the Filchonomicon must be placed in a dark area with one's current spellbook for an hour, then you can retrieve the Filchonomicon, your old spellbook is oddly absent...If the Filchonomicon is lost or destroyed, it can be summoned again by performing a ritual that takes 1 hour and consumes 50 gold per wizard level of paper, steel, and a pilfered object.
Trick of the Light
The Filchonomicon knows when it's caretaker is unperceived and empowers your spells, as a bit of reinforcement. At 10th level, if you are hidden from a creature when you cast a spell on it, the creature has disadvantage on any saving throw it makes against the spell until the start of your next turn.
Heist Crew
Form a crew, do the job, and get out without being noticed. At 14th level, once per long rest, you use an action to form a Heist Crew of up to 8 creatures for the next 8 hours. Every creature in your Heist Crew gains the following:
- Connected telepathically, as if by the spell telepathic bond, following all rules of that spell
- Advantage on Charisma (Deception) checks
- Once before the end of your heist, may cast dimension door once without expending a spell slot
- They cannot be targeted by any divination magic or perceived through magical scrying sensors
