Chest of Savings

Wondrous Item, Uncommon

General Appearance

The Chest of Savings appears to be a normal wooden chest with hammer forged hardware. It is roughly 2' wide, 15" deep, and 15" tall. There is a clasp on the front, but no lock. However, one could be added.

Closer Inspection

A Wisdom check (DC 12) will reveal that the chest is magical. A Wisdom check (DC 19) will indicate the details in how this chest can be used.

Storage Capabilities

This chest will only allow coins to be placed within it. Should a person attempt to place any other item within the chest, the item will simply rest above the lip of the chest base, and the lid cannot be closed. If the lid is attempted to be closed, the item will slide out of the chest on to the surface in front of the chest.

As coins are placed within the chest, they are immediately sorted in to visually clean stacks. However, this chest can hold more coins than it's physical appearance would allow.

The Chest of Savings has a maximum capacity of 100,000gp in value.

Retrieval

Coins can only be retrieved from the chest once per week. When a person attempts to remove coins from the chest, a retrieval roll must be made. This indicates a percentage of the current sum of coins that the chest will allow to be removed. No more, but less if desired.

During retrieval, a magical barrier lowers within the chest allowing coins above it to be removed. Once coins are removed, it moves back to the top of the chest.

After coins are removed from the chest, no coins may be removed for 1 week. If enough coins are added to the chest to exceed the original balance, this timer resets immediately
